Dentures

DENTURES

Dentures are artificial teeth and gums that are formed to your mouth and created by your dentists to replace lost or removed natural teeth. Dentures can either be full or partial, meaning they can either replace all teeth on either the top or bottom gum line, or just a few that are missing. Regardless of what kind of dentures you may need, they will be custom designed to fit your mouth, and visually matched to your existing teeth.

Dentures are of two types – Complete & Partial

Complete dentures are advised when all the teeth are missing, and partial dentures are applied when some natural teeth are missing. They are custom made especially for a set of teeth and gum line. They are conventional dentures and are removed during the night for cleaning.

Partial Dentures consists of replaced missing teeth attached to artificial gum connected by a metal framework which helps to hold the denture in place. Missing teeth can change the position of other teeth hence partial denture help to overcome this problem and keep the teeth intact.

OVERDENTURE

Overdenture is any removable dental prosthesis that covers and rests on one or more remaining natural teeth, the roots of natural teeth, and/or dental implants. It is one of the most practical measures used in preventive dentistry.

HOW TO CARE DENTURE

  1. Remove and rinse dentures after eating.
  2. Handle your dentures carefully.
  3. Clean your mouth after removing your dentures.
  4. Brush your dentures at least daily.
  5. Soak dentures overnight.

Rinse dentures thoroughly before putting them back in your mouth, especially if using a denture-soaking solution.
